A Dream Opportunity

My Motivation

La Escuela Del Sol began in 2007. Wild Sun Rescue and Jungle Lodge at Wild Sun began construction in 2014 and finally became a fully permitted operation in 2016. Bringing to fruition the idea of saving wildlife and having a positive impact on conservation is the greatest achievement of my life. It has taken years of trial and error and overcoming some of the most challenging obstacles (including starting with very little funding and a nearly impossible permitting process) to create the successful program we have today. In 2022, we were able to generate nearly $600,000 USD in revenue, all proceeds of which was reinvested into growing infrastructure and staff in order to increase our impact on conservation.

Having recently started a family and feeling the need to be more present has made me question if I have the focus necessary to continue to direct Wild Sun. It is my hope that I can pass the torch to someone who can bring Wild Sun to greater heights, faster than I ever could. I hope that person is you.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Levine

Founded in November, 2016, Wild Sun rescues, rehabilitates and releases wildlife of the southern Nicoya Peninsula.  To date, over 600 animals have been rescued including mammals, reptiles and birds.  In addition there is a breeding and reintroduction program of the locally extinct Scarlet Macaw.  24 macaws have been reintroduced so far and 12 breeding birds continue to repopulate pre-release enclosures for future reintroductions.

Animals and Volunteers are managed by 5 managers, a Costa Rican biologist and a licensed Costa Rican veterinarian.  We have forged relationships with booking agencies which feed an average of 15 volunteers per week throughout the year.  We also have programs for vet and pre-vet students, biology and conservation internships and a summer camp that is in the works for 2024.

In all, Wild Sun Rescue has 29 enclosures, around 75 animals under care, a vet clinic with equipment (including ultra sound, microscope, incubators, oxygen machine, anesthesia machine,) quarantine space, dorms for volunteers and private living quarters for managers.

We have all necessary rescue center permits including: CVO, Min. de Salúd, MINAE, SINAC, SENASA

We are incorporated as an Asociación sin fines de lucro: Asociación Rainsong Wildlfe Rescue Center (3-002-703429)

Currently in process to obtain additional zoo permit
