Domestic Flight – $110-$150, 1 hour
Sansa Air and Green Air are currently the only domestic airlines flying to our area. Look for flights to Cobano (30 minutes away).

After you exit customs at SJO, there is a short walk outside to the Sansa and Green Air Terminals. Flights are 25 minutes. Make sure to leave at least 2 hours between international and domestic flights to leave time for immigration, baggage claim and customs as well as any brief delays.

If you make your reservation with Sansa, you may also add ground transportation to Wild Sun Rescue Center for only $27/person. If you are the only person going to Cabuya they will charge you an additional $20.  Alternatively, you may grab a taxi to the Wild Sun Rescue Center from Cobano Airport ($50) (you can also ask us to make a taxi reservation). This is the easiest and fastest way to get here and the flight is stunning!

Direct Bus to Montezuma – $15, 6 hours
This is not an easy way to travel but nonetheless cheap.

First buy your bus ticket here.  Be sure to book from San Jose to Montezuma and choose Puente Villa Bonita as the departure pickup point (closest point from SJO airport).

After arrival at SJO airport, you’ll need to take a $6 taxi to Puente Villa Bonita.

The direct bus from Transportes Cobano has other stops in Santa Teresa, Mal País, Cobano and Tambor and passes Puente Villa Bonita twice a day (normally at 6:30 am, & at 2:30 pm but due to C19, bus schedules change from time to time, at one point having one pickup at 9:30am).

About 45 minutes after the ferry you may have to change buses in Cobano for Montezuma so be on your toes.

From Montezuma, it’s recommended to hire a taxi ($14) to Wild Sun Rescue Center in Cabuya. If they have trouble understanding, ask for La Escuela Del Sol. We’re on the same campus.

If you take a bus from Montezuma to Cabuya instead, ask to get off at the first right after Super Chicho.  Then follow signs to La Escuela Del Sol and Wild Sun Rescue Center.  It’s a 700m hike, slightly uphill, so not the most fun with heavy luggage.

From Liberia (LIR):

Daily Shuttle – $50, 5 hours - ONLY AVAILABLE IF MINIMUM OCCUPANCY IS MET
You can take a shuttle any day of the week from LIR airport to Cabuya / Wild Sun Rescue.

Schedules vary by season. If you’d like to come on the shuttle please contact us and we can arrange for your reservations.
